A Message was brought from the House of Commons with a Bill C-3, An Act to amend the Eldorado Nuclear Limited Reorganization and Divestiture Act and the Petro-Canada Public Participation Act, to which they desire the concurrence of the Senate.

The Honourable Senator Spivak moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Kinsella, that the Bill be placed on the Orders of the Day for a second reading on Wednesday next, May 9, 2001.

Resuming debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator Kirby, seconded by the Honourable Senator Grafstein, for the third reading of Bill S-11, An Act to amend the Canada Business Corporations Act and the Canada Cooperatives Act and to amend other Acts.After debate,
In amendment, the Honourable Senator Oliver moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Tkachuk, that the Bill be not now read a third time but that it be amended by adding after line 38 on page 88 the following:
"135.1 A committee of the Senate, of the House of Commons or of both Houses of Parliament that is designated or established for the purpose shall, within five years after the coming into force of this section, and within every ten years thereafter, undertake a review of the provisions and operations of the Canada Business Corporations Act, and shall, within a reasonable period thereafter, cause to be laid before each House of Parliament a report thereon.".

The question then being put on the motion of the Honourable Senator Kirby, seconded by the Honourable Senator Grafstein, for the third reading of Bill S-11, as amended, it was adopted.
